Brooke Anne Langland was a bright, kind, and passionate 17-year-old from Iowa City who touched the hearts of everyone who knew her. Born in 2002, to John and Traci, Brooke lived life with joy and deep love for her family, friends, and community. A true Iowa Hawkeye, she bled black and gold her entire life. She could even recite Nile Kinnick's Heisman Trophy speech by heart. From the time she was three years old, dance was at the center of her world. She spent countless hours practicing and performing, and she shined as a member of the Liberty High School Dance Team. With her team, she helped win three State Championships and earned top finishes at Nationals.
Brooke’s talents and interests stretched far beyond dance. She was a straight-A student, a member of the National Honor Society and had already been accepted to the University of Iowa with the plan to study healthcare. She was a quiet but powerful leader through Liberty High School's Difference Makers program. Never interested in the spotlight, but always the one to make the light shine brighter. Brooke was the kind of person who made sure no one felt left out, whether it was in the classroom, on the dance team, or in everyday life. She had a heart for service and always found ways to care for others, through a kind word, or simply showing up when someone needed a friend. Though she is no longer with us, that light continues to shine in the memories and love she left behind.
